bird enthusiasts can observe up to 300 varieties of birds in the area. Many bird species are viewable during the winter due to unfrozen areas of the harbor caused by heat generated from the NFG power plant. Skeeter Tower is part of a local birding club known as the Lake Erie Birding Club, which has 80 members.
